ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE
The English as a Second Language (ESL) program at ISS aims to support students whose first language is a language other than English or have difficulty with the English language. All ESL students are based in their respective inclusive year level classrooms. The LS Case manager, in collaboration with the classroom teacher ensures that material and tasks are differentiated in the mainstream classroom to meet the individual student's needs. This assists students to reach a level of proficiency in English enabling them to work with some degree of independence in the mainstream classroom programs.
